| Hey
Is it possible for me to have the server computer say to all clients on the network before shutting down to say The Server computer is shutting down now please stop downloading and save all web pages.
Does anyone know of any software or somthing that will make this send a message to all cleints just before shutting down automatically?
Thanks
DoughBiy

| There are means to transmit messages across networks to all of the client PCs but to incorporate a shutdown action as part of that solution sounds like a scripted event of some sort. I don't know of any utility that can do that for you but wait for some other inputs from some of the other members here.

| you could right a batch file that you would use to shut the machine down, like this one which would display that message then shutdown 30 seconds later:
net send * The Server computer is shutting down now please stop downloading and save all web pages
shutdown -s -t 30

| I did
just copy the bold text from my post above and paste it into notepad. Then save as shutdown.bat
After you save that file, go into Scheduled Tasks on the control panel, click on New Scheduled Tasks. Then browse to that batch file and follow the wizard to schedule it whenever/however you want.
