I have one Windows XP Pro machine sharing out private documents on my network. How can i password this share so that whenever i try to access it on my WinME Laptop it will always prompt me for a password? I have created another user and set the permission of the share for that user only but when i try accessing the share with my Laptop it says Access Denied and doesnt prompt me for a password. All i want is to password the folder. Any help would be appreciated.

Right click on the directory you would like to share and select sharing and security. Here you set who you want to have access and many more security settings.

Windows XP does not use 'share level security.' All access is controlled by user accounts. Disable simple file sharing on your XP computer. If you are not logged on your ME PC with an account that exists on the XP box, you should be prompted for a username and password to access the share.
