Hey
I have a prob with my FTP server.
It is installed on my pc which is in a peer2peer
network en connects to the internet via a host pc.

The prob is, that nobody can use my ftp server.
my have a dynamic ip from my isp so i installed the DYNU BASIC DNS tool. But no one can acces my ftp server. I think Dynu can't find my pc cause its in a LAN.

Any solutions??

Thx

Many of the dynamic DNS software packages available out there have to be installed on the local machine.  When your IP changes, it updates the new IP address on the DNS server it is configured to use.  Suggest making sure the settings are correct locally.  This software shuld be installed on the ICS host, not the FTP server.

You also need to open and forward port 21 on the ICS host to the LAN IP address of the FTP server.

Yea that might do it.

I tried it already but found no option to forward the trafic on port 21.

Thanx

Don't have an XP PC in my classroom this week so this is from memory.

Use the properties sheet on the connection configured for ICS.  Click on Advanced, then settings.  On the services tab look for FTP Server and click on edit.  If FTP server doesn't exist, then click on Add and configure the forwarding there.

If your DNS is correct, your users should connect OK.  You can also test this by using your IP address.
