| There's a significant update of Zone Alarm available today. If you have Zone Alarm set to Manual Update Checks, it would be smart to open the program, use the update button, and get the update immediately. If you have your program set to Auto Update, it may not have phoned home yet, or you may have it set so that it can't, so if you haven't had an update notice yet today, use the button.

| I am also using ZA (Freebie) - got the update early yesterday afternoon - ZA alerted me and I downloaded and installed it without a glitch!

| I don't use a software firewall, so I have no firsthand experience with any of them. Mnosteele feels ZA is horrible and experience has taught me not to take his opinions lightly - he generally has a pretty good basis for his opinions.
Having said that, as is the case with any product - some people like it, some people hate it, some have mixed feelings. Personally, if I was going to go with a software firewally I'd probably seek mno's opinion first.

| I don't wanna push my luck with the mnosteele, so I'll just say that I've had really good performance from it, no interference at all (except the RIGHT kind: checks to make sure the sware has my permission to call home ... and it almost always doesn't, so ZA stops it until and unless I say otherwise), and very large numbers of incoming attempts stopped cold as well.
YMMV, of course. But if some people like some utility and some people don't, it all boils down to the fact that you ought to try whatever you want to try and see whether it (1) works the way you want it to, and (2) gives you zero problems. If (1) and (2) are true, you have a winner!
