When I playback MPEG-2 files in wmp there are several problems, interlacing, green blocks at the bottom of the screen. I can fix this problem by installing the intervideo codecs that come with winDVD, only problem is while they are installed it takes a very long time for files to load. I am almost sure this is a codec conflict, but I have no idea how to disable the mpeg-2 codecs that come standard with winXP.

I can find the codecs in device manager, but I dont know what does what.

Any ideas?
