Just attach the IDE cable and power cable to it and XP should recognize it.

but when i connect the cable and start my computer, windows ask for a boot disk !


i tried the boot disk but nothing worked

OH so you're taking out the one HD with XP and replacing it with another?? If that's the case, install the new HD and boot with the XP cd in the drive and install XP. If you're wanting to transfer the already installed XP to the new HD you'll have to make an image of that installation with something like DriveImage or Ghost then transfer that image onto the new hard drive.

Or are you installing a second hd? If so, it needs to be configured as the slave so the pc will boot to the hd with the OS on it.
