I recently filled up my 60GB hard drive . I decided to backup the keeper files, format and reinstall windows XP home edition. I kept my computer plugged into the router that splits my DSL connection with my roommate. The first thing I installed after the first boot was Norton Antivirus 2003 but before the installation was over, the progress bar started to go in reverse. I got a message that an external source was trying to manipulate the program settings. What’s up with that
I turned off my computer and disconnected from the network. I had to re-reformat and re-reinstall Windows XP and all my software (including Norton’s Antivirus and Internet Security) before exposing myself to the dirty internet!!
Cheers,

| | was that message from Norton Av? i don't have any norton products anymore, but maybe someone knows what that means. norton, i find, has a million warnings for everything, sometimes nothing to dramatic. it could have been something to do with admin rights or something...with norton itz anyones guess... |

| Don't know what happened, but my guess would be human error somewhere. Very unlikely (though not impossible) you were hacked if you are plugged into a router (which I assume has a built in NAT firewall).
