hey peoples

well this happened 2 me twice. my dvd rw worked fine till i think wen i installed sum program n straight after dat, they stopped reading dvds or cds. So i had 2 get new dvd drives. But this time i cant afford it lol so i thought i'll seek the pro's help BigGrin i tried everything like updating firmware to 1.02 which is the lates but still nothing.i dont know much think its stuffed but i think some software is interferring or blocking it some how. Please i need ur help.

See if the following helps at all:
Copy and paste ALL the following text in the code box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: fix.reg to your desktop.
Then double click on the fix.reg file on your desktop

and agree to merge the information into the registry,then restart your pc.

hey thanx for the help. But nothing happened. Still cant read dvds. But wen i put a dvd disc, da computer lags for about 3 seconds den nothing comes up, goes bak to normal. Any more ideas? Smile

Autoplay didnt seem the problem, but it said that some kind of burning program might be blocking it. I installed nero when it used 2 work n i burnt a cd with it. After that is when it stopped working. Any 1 can help?? Frustrating

I installed nero when it used 2 work n i burnt a cd with it. After that is when it stopped working.

If you have since removed/uninstalled Nero,do the following:

Download and scan with CCleaner:
http://www.ccleaner.com/download/builds
1. Starting with v1.27.260, CCleaner started installing the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation.
IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbar-free 'Slim' version instead of the Standard Build.

2. Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

3. Then select the items you wish to clean up.

In the Windows Tab:
* Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section except Cookies.
* Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
* Clean all entries in the "System" section.
* Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
* Clean any others that you choose.

In the Applications Tab:
* Clean all except cookies in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
* Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
* Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
* Clean any others that you choose.

4. Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
5. A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
6. Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.

* Now click on the 'Registry' tab/button on the left.
* Then click on the 'Scan for issues' button at the bottom.
* If CCleaner displays any issues,click on 'Fix selected issues'.
* You'll then be asked 'Do you want to backup changes to the registry',you must click 'YES'.
* Save the backup somewhere safe,your desktop is a good a place as any.
* Then click 'Fix Issues',then click 'Close'.
* Exit CCleaner.

Download RegSearch by Bobbi Flekman.
Right click on your desktop 'New',select 'Folder'.
Right click on that new folder and select 'Rename',rename it to RegSearch
Unzip/extract the contents of regsearch.zip to the RegSearch folder.
Open the RegSearch folder and double-click the icon RegSearch.exe to launch the program.
Copy and paste the following string to search for in the top space,then click "OK":
Nero
After completion Notepad will be opened with all the found instances of the string.
The resulting file is saved in the same location as RegSearch.exe.
Copy and paste the entire search results into your next reply.
