My hard drive on Dell dimension 4600 died and I need a replacement. Can you recommend a suitable drive. Also I have the original windows disk but have lost the product code, can I buy a disk from anywhere or do I have to get it from Dell to get the product code?

I would get it from Dell. That way you don't have to buy it. As far as the drive, if you post the specs of your motherboard and or current drive type (ide/sata), it would help us to point you in the right direction. Hope that helps.

EDIT: It appears your drive is ATA 100, so I would go to Newegg.com and search for an IDE drive that is ATA 133 or 100 speed, with a size of equal or greater than the dead one. Make sure the drive is ATA and not SATA. you could go SATA but the default Dell disk may not have drivers for that and would open another can of worms.
