| | I need a vista compatible program for burning CD/DVD's that will do incremental backups (detect new/changed files and add those to an existing disk). I want it to be session writing, not packet writing software. (Easiest way to tell that is if the software formats the disk before use and allows drag & drop, it is packet writing-not what I want). I used to use Nero 6 for this on XP, but for Vista I need Nero ver 7 or 8 and it seems they've removed the incremental backup feature on those newer versions. Any suggestions? Thanks |

| | Can you not grab Nero 6 and run in in 2K/XP comp. mode? |

| | My Nero 6 will not install. The Vista installer shuts down. And it seems like compatibility mode is only for programs that managed to get installed. |

| | I did not think Acronis could do incremental backups directly to cd. Have you used it in that manner? Thanks |

| I have. Version 10-11 I think works ok for that. Post back if you want me to test. I don't have it installed right now, but I can check to make sure for ya.

| | I installed Acronis TI ver 11. It created the initial backup, but it stopped working both times I tried to create the incremental backup. It got to the final step, I ok'ed it, then it just sat there and did nothing, though it said it was at 52%. Also when I tried to do a restore as a test after the initial backup, it would not display the CD/DVD drive as a source even though the disk was in it. I had to copy the file to the hard drive in order to test the restore (which did work). Also it is less than ideal for me because I'd prefer a backup in native file formats, rather than the compressed format. Any other suggestions for Vista compatible backups that do incremental backup to CD/DVD? Thanks |
