| heyy for some reason my sound does not work nothings muted or anything but my sound isnt working

| | Is it a fresh install? Did your sound ever work? Do you have an intergrated sound chip or a sound card? Are the drivers for either the chip or the card up to date? Click on the Start button in the bottom left corner of your desktop. Once that menu opens, type device manager in the search box and hit enter. When the Device Manager screen pops up, expand Sound,video and game controllers. If there is a ! next to it, there's an issue. Right-click whichever one has an ! in front of it and select Update Driver Software... Choose Search automatically for updated driver software to let Windows search for an update. |

| | hey, my sound had previously worked. THEN i installed srs audio sound box it was fine until i restarted my laptop and my sound was not working so i uninstalled srs audio soundbox. then i was searching up srs help and it said install the latest update to the srs audio soundbox to fix the problem so i downloaded reinstalled and now my sound is fine and i jus checked the thing u told me and its all fine no exclamation marks thanks.. |

| | HEY for some reason after i restarted the computer my sound does not work again i am not sure why. my sound used to alwyas work since i installed the srs deleted or not my sound does not work i checked device manager and there are no exclamation marks or anything evrythings working properly can u plz help me to fix my sound.?? evrytime i reinstall the srs audio sandbox it works then i restart my computer n it does not work.. |

| hey okay i figured out the problem. the playback sound it was using was the srs audio sandbox, and you need that to so the srs so und effects play but whenever it seems to be on i cant hear sound so i chancged the default back to my normal speaker, but would u know why srs sanbox speaker when ever they are used it does not work
?

| | Now this is just a guess, as I have no knowledge of SRS Audio Sandbox. Is it possible that it is not compatible with Vista...such as the Audigy Sound Blaster? Another possibility might be that the downloaded driver was intended for XP. When you say that you switched back your normal speaker, what exactly were you referring to? Do you have an intergrated sound chip on your motherboard? If so, has it been disabled in the BIOS? |

| hey,
what i meant was that when you click on the sound icon on the bottom right of the taskbar, you then click on mixer to open up the window of volume. then you click on device at top left of the window and on my laptop the options are:
speakers(realtek high defenition audio)which is the default right now and
realtek digital output(high definition audio)
but when i had srs audio sandbox i nstalled there was another device option of srs audio sound or whatever it was.
and the srs had to be the default device to play back my music witht he srs sound effects but for some reason it only worked once i installed srs then after a reboot the sound does not work no more so i change the device settings back to the speaker(realteck high defenition) option. |

| | I had the same problem installing Vista Ultimate with my SB Live 5.1. The easiest way to fix this is to download a Vista driver for the card from a 3rd party, like KX Driver. Works like a charm now. |
