| Hi there all I've posted here before and found it very helpfull, you guys are damn cool! (I kinda forgot my password and have had to re-register....) Don't want to sound thick, but where would be an appropriate place to post for help with my Laptop-XP is acting up and is hanging, has 4kb bad sectors and programs take uber long to load. Not to mention start up takes around 3 minutes and the Windows tune is all garbled..... If anyone can tell me the best place to post my dilema, please do so! Regards, Rik |

| Hi RIK
Welcome to Tweaks.com.
I would post that question in either Hardware and Driver Support or General Windows Support.

| Welcome to the forums RIK.
If startup is taking a long time, you may have too many programs running or there may be a malware infection on your system. In that case you would follow the instructions here.

| | Welcome RIK my Laptop-XP is acting up and is hanging, has 4kb bad sectors I would look for a hard drive diagnostic from the manufacturers web site. Your symptoms could also be pointing to a failing hard drive.

| Dirt-dust-and clogged air vents will cause your CPU to get hot
and hang.
Check your task manager to see what app or process is using
the most memory and what % your CPU is at.
If you know how to take the cover off then by all means
get a can of air and clean it out.
Especially around the CPU -fan.
