Hi - I have nero 6 [downgraded from 8] and I cannot burn to dual layer discs! I've followed some threads, and have found out that I need to enable DMA - not exactly sure what this means, but apparently it should solve my problem. I followed some instructions which said to go to device manager and open the tree IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, but it's not listed!

I have tried to update the firmware - I downloaded it from the Optiarc website, but when I try and run the .exe file, it says that it can't find the drive.

I can play DVD movies from my drive [dual layer discs] and I can also read dual layer discs that have been burnt using the same program on a different computer. I'm running XP Professional x64.

I've found that a lot of other people have this same issue, but no one has posted a solution on any forum! HELP!!!

and before anyone asks, I have a DVD +/- DL RW drive. (the Optiarc 5170s].

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
dRolan.

All the best,
dRolan

Welcome to the forum

First check in the system BIOS,usually under 'Integrated Peripherals',see if everything there checks out.

Check for driver/chipset driver and BIOS updates on your motherboard manufacturers website.

If you're not sure of the make and model of your motherboard you could download and run these utilities.

Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit (Version 7.2v):

Thanks for the reply! I checked the BIOS already, but I may have a driver missing - I have a Dell computer which came with Vista Ultimate x64 which I uninstalled to put XP x64 on and when I reinstalled all the drivers, I may have missed one out which could be the cause of all my problems!

I'll post again once I've had a look at all the drivers.

Thanks again.

All the best,
