when ever I download files the pc becomes extremely slow with the mouse pointer skipping thru the screen, when ever I view site with lots of pictures the pc hangs for a while, I've ran Task Manager while using the pc and never seen the memory graph go above 56% and the cpu usually hangs at 50% as well

I've defrag the drives, checked for spyware, clean temp, PC is running cool, everything is clean

my old memory failed I sent it back but the model was no longer available so I picked a different one by the same manufacturer(G.Skill) I bought 1gb to hold me while my old one was replaced, I then got 2gb for a total of 3GB of G.Skill DDR2 800, I ran Vista rating and with my extra 2GB it actually went down because of the memory

Vista Ultimate
4300 Core 2 Duo
3GB G.Skill

someone suggested messing with the Virtual Memory I did to no avail, any suggestions?

Without knowing more about the computer it's hard to say but it could be the new memory isn't exactly right for the motherboard or doesn't exactly match what you already had.

The link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231098

Did your memory modules come with a warranty? Might check that out.

I use Crucial and have not had but one problem and that was because the Dell Dimension 2350 is not the same as the Dell Dimension 2300 Series [2300-2399] models.

Might compare the specs. of yours against what Crucial shows:
