| I have been on your forum recently, and I believed my (work) PC was infected. RickieUK helped me through several steps (including HijackThis, ComboFix, etc.) at the end it was determined I was clean!! Today I finally went through the final "step" from RickieUK about Ccleaner, I left/checked all boxes as requested and seemed to be fine....now suddenly my (work) computer is sooo soo slow and it won't let me run Norton from the menu bar at the bottom of the screen (I was alway able to click there and get it to run) also I added some info. to my "bills" folder and when I tried to save it gave me a window saying I was not able to modify/save information and "it" had created a temp folder (bunch of numbers) and I would need to save to the temp folder and then rename it. I AM REALLY WORRIED NOW, what could have happened? it seemed to be doing so well, since it's my computer at work (and not really my own) I am especially worried!.....some things it won't let me get into (even Ccleaner I couldn't pull up, and it wasn't even on my menu bar like before...I had to go into "programs" in the computer) HELP !! have I done something wrong?????

| Try the following.
Disconnect from the internet.
Click on Start>Run,type msconfig then press Enter.
Under the 'Startup' tab uncheck EVERYTHING,then restart your pc.
If everything seems to be back to normal, start adding items/entries back by rechecking the boxes one at a time.
Restart your pc in between each one.
Using trial and error, keep doing that until you find the problem program/process.
*Note*
Don't forget to make sure your antivirus and firewall are running before you reconnect to the internet.

| | Thanks again for your help. The computer seems to be back on track now, not sure really what program it was; as I checked them back on the computer seemed to remain running properly (once I unchecked and restarted, the computer ran great) I do have one question though, while I was having the slow down and before I realized I really was having a problem *the 1st part of the morning it ran great until I did the Ccleaner* I entered some data into one of my files and it told me that was a read only file (which it never had been before) and it had saved a temporary file in it's place and I would need to rename that file or keep it as it named it. (does that make sense? or am I confusing) THANKS AGAIN YOU REALLY ARE A LIFE SAVER!!!

| I did run Malwarebytes and it found 2 infections in the registery I had them "fixed". Is there anything else I should do? Just keep the logs for reference? ALSO how do I clear the RUN - msconfig ? I believe I am finished with the "startup" tab, but everytime I turn the computer on or have to reset it I get the box I was working in clearing the startup programs. I try to delete it or clear it and it just keeps coming back. (OH and again thanks for the help and Malwarebytes trial - it seems to have caught those things Norton didn't)

| Click on Start>Run,type msconfig then press OK
Inside the 'Startup Selection' window, make sure 'Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services' is selected.
Then press Apply,then press OK
Restart your pc when you're prompted.
