| After much time, I had finally figured out how to make XP work very responsively.
Now, my new computer has vista. No matter how hard I try, I cant make it work at the same level of responsiveness. There is a lag just for simple operations, whether it be opening a program, opening explorer, moving my mouse around on the start menu...
I purchased a tablet laptop with two G of RAM, so the specs arent the strongest (no separate video card), but even so, I have gone to pains to remove thing things I possibly can. I purchased two vista tweaking programs and have removed all the stuff I dont need (The aero stuff is long gone).
I do simple things with my computer, but I want the things I do to happen quickly!
Any suggestions for tweaks would be appreciated. I've seen the basic stuff. I"m looking at getting into modifying the registry to make explorer work better, anything to reduce system overhead.
Thanks!!

| Microsoft says that SP1 will help address the issue you describe. It is due to be released in the near future (it's in beta release now), so time will tell. Meanwhile, you can check blackviper's site (www.blkviper.com) for suggestions on setting up services.

| Thanks for your reply. I really hope that it wasnt a mistake to buy a computer just as a new windows oeprating system is getting established!
I would just put XP Tablet edition onto my new tablet, I'm gonna try sticking it out with vista cause fo the hand wriitng recognition. |
