My right click menu, send to menu, new menu, etc. are all suddenly lacking a normal "New Folder" option. I can now only create a Compressed Folder or I'm sometimes given the option to create a Briefcase, and the "New Folder" command under "Organize" produces no result either, just futile clicks. How do I get my new folders back?!?!?!?

I did make some performance adjustments on my new Vista Computer, but don't know HOW I managed this!!

Thanks for any tips!

PEACE!

See if the following helps:

First back up the registry by doing the following.
Click on Start>Accessories>Run,copy and paste the following bold text into the 'Open:' space, then press Ok.
regedit /e c:\registrybackup.reg
It won't appear to be doing anything, that's normal.
Your mouse pointer may have an hour glass along side it for a minute or so.
Please be patient and continue when the hour glass disappears.

Copy and paste ALL the following text in the Quote box below into Notepad.
Click on File(in the menu at the top)>Save as../Save as Type: 'All Files' /File name: fix.reg to your desktop.
Then double click on the fix.reg file on your desktopand agree to merge the imformation into the registry, then restart your pc.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\New]
@="{D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}"

If still no joy try System Restore, thats if you have a restore point available.
Restore your system back to before you made the changes.
