| It really is YOUR decision based on how well you know SP2 and how much you like it - because you are the one who will be responsible for maintaining those clients. I installed SP2 and have had to deal with a rash of annoying but minor issues, such as hyperlinks not working and problems accessing Hotmail and other sites that like Microsoft virtual java, Active X and all the other Microsoft virus mating call scripts. But I understand this is the exception rather than typical. I am going to format and NOT re-install SP2 - but that requires explanation. SP2 greatly improves security settings for people who pay no attention to security. But in my work I handle very confidential information and am a security freak: router, sygate firewall, anti-virus updates daily with twice daily scans, adaware, spybot, spywareblaster, spywareguard, Firefox instead of IE, Internet Setting tweaked to the max in favor of security and not running scripts without specific ok ... and most of all, safe surfing and never opening an email unless I know what is inside that mail. Point of this is that if you do NOT install SP2, are you going to take other measures to protect your clients like I protect myself. Hope that helps.

| yankee 2110 - I gave up on HP drivers - but just haven't had the time to go for it - as if I have problems I want time to get it sorted. I start a weeks's vacation Wed - going to the Smokies next week for 4 days - so I will probably go for it - minus the HP drivers! BTW - the wifes' Compaq is smooth sailing on SP2 - with no driver updates. Remember - select the option to do the backup or whatever it is called and you can always uninstall SP2 and go back!

| I was thinking the same thing, damnyank. I can just uninstall if I get too many problems. I just ordered Media Center Edition 2005 from HP so I may wait for that to arrive. Although, with all the luck I have been having with HP drivers I may just install what I have from Microsoft. I don't even use the Media Center and SP2 should update my version to 2004.

| I have installed it on two of computers at home. One is excellent, no issues what-so-ever. Highly recommend it. The other one will reboot after getting to the desktop. It might reboot anywhere from 2 to 4 times. After much research, I find it is because I have an AMD processor that doesn't support DEP on the second machine. I am trying some Microsoft work arounds today and hopefully it will fix this issue. I can's say enought about the popup blocker with SP2, works quite well, very nice... |

| I too run SP2, and have had 0 problems with it. Not to say anything bad about the people that it hasnt worked for, but I would say 70% of the problems people say about SP2 and strickly user error, not system failure.
Dont Know? Google It

| Against! Against! MS claims that security will be fixed, holes filled, yet why would a firewire card stop working. I checked newsgroups, and I am not the only one that had a video camera plugged into a firewire card that worked with video editing software before SP2, but not after. Until such time that this issue is addressed, SP2 will remain on MS servers, not my PC. |

| Definitely against SP2. I've got SP1 on my PC. It have been updated to SP2 twice. And every time I wass getting an errors after instalation. I did updated PC to SP2 ones more yesterday, hoping every thing would be OK. But as it turned out to be, all my devices and some programs was not working. So I've uninstalled it today. I'm quite happy with SP1.
