| | I bought a dell computer sometime ago, and it came with windows media center edition(I believe anyway) now, a year later I needed to reinstall windows on my computer, and I want to know, since I never got an OS cd with this computer, can I do that slipstreaming stuff with the original? or is there anyway I can create a windows cd from the files already on my hard drive? |

You do need the original CD for your installation to slipstream Service Packs into.
or is there anyway I can create a windows cd from the files already on my hard drive?
You could copy the I386 Folder onto a CD but it wouldn't be bootable.
If an OEM doesn't provide the disk/s or the buyer doesn't choose the option to get them there usually is a program listed in the Start, All Programs menu about creating the backup disks.
Meant to add, the only WinXP MCE setups I've done had a DVD as the install disk.

hm...so the back up disk program wouldn't help here, would it? |

| Probably not, it all depends upon what the backup program does. Most of them compress the files to allow getting everything in.
