| I just did it and here is how:
Start regedit
Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/Lnkfile
Delete the IsShortcut registry value.
You may need to restart your pc.

| I had tried that earlier, but it actually breaks something:
If you go to the Games folder and try to start a game there, you'll get an error message. Same happens if you try to open links with some other file manager, e.g. Total Commander. |

| The original win 98 (not windows 200/xp version) of TweakUi will install in the control panel (classic view) and then it does remove the shortcut arrows after a reboot, but sometimes you may have to settle for the tiny "small" arrows if the "none" option doesn't work. You maight also try custom if none doesn't work. I have mine set tot the small one and it is hardly noticible. Also the remove "shortcut" label on new shortcuts works here too.  |
