Want to get a DVR for my Aunt.  Something simple to use, for a very basic entertainment system.  Only needs one tuner and will record a standard cable hook up.  Tivo, replay tv... any recomendations.

I bought a TiVo for cable a year ago and within a month got a DSS TiVo. I've always been into electronics and have a houseful of vcr's. I have neither recorded nor watched a video tape since getting the TiVo's. They are great.

One thing you should note - while there is no picture degredation with the satellite model, there is a slight but noticeable loss of quality with the cable model because the satellite signal is already compressed when you receive it but the cable signal needs to be compressed by the TiVo.

I vote for Tivo, got one myself. I like it especially for the pause,
fastforward and rewind live tv ability. Never again I'll miss my
favorite shows...it's also easy to upgrade. At stock my tivo
could only record up to 44 hours; now it's at 120 hours. But a word of
warning, upgrading the tivo will void your warranty.
