Hello,

Trying to help a friend with Windows XP MCE with this problem. When they're watching a streaming video on the internet through Windows Media Player, the Media Center program pops up on its own with its annoying full screen menu, and it happens at random. I disabled all the privacy checkboxes and similar things in Media Player, in case it might've been the culprit but it made no difference.

I tried going through Media Center setup and settings to make sure it doesn't perform automatic updates or retreives any info about a played media but it too made no difference.

I tried to make sure that Media Center does not start up with Windows but same result.

I'm aware that I can disable specific Media Center services in administrative tools but certain sites warn that it may make MCE unstable, despite some people reporting no problems. I'd rather use the disabling of services as a last resort.

What causes Media Center to randomly open while watching a streaming video through Media Player? How to prevent it from doing so?

Thanks!
