| | My drive icons are messed up! The drive icons and descriptions are incorrect when I click on the "My Computer" icon in the start menu, and I have no idea how to fix it. My drives are incorrectly labeled as follows... C: Local Disk (Correct label and icon). D: Recovery (Incorrect icon) E: SD (SD is short for SansDisk? Should be my DVD Drive and show the CD/DVD drive icon) F: Smartmedia (Incorrect label and icon) G: MS/MS Pro (Incorrect label and icon) H: Removable Disk (Generically labeled, incorrect icon) I: Removable Disk (I know this one should be MS/MS Pro because it takes my sony memory sticks, incorrect icon) I tried to change the drive description and icon to what they should be by using regedit...but everytime I restart the computer, the icons change right back to what they originally were. Is there a save feature that I am missing in the regedit menu? Also, in regedit, it does not show my H and I drives when looking in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\DriveIcons". Would these icons be located elsewhere? Someone suggested making an Autorun.inf file for the DVD drive, but I tried that and it didn't change anything. Everything remained the same. Plus, I can not create an autorun.inf file for my removeable media drives. I am using Windows XP Media Center, on a eMachines T6522. Can anyone help me? More information can/will be provided upon request, as well as screenshots if required.

I've found that the autorun.inf file and icon file have to reside on the drive/disk itself.

| | The only problem that I have is that I don't have all the removeable media (Sansdisk, CF/Microdrive, Smartmedia) to place an autorun.inf file on each. Is there a way to adjust the registry to fix this problem? Everytime I try to adjust the registry, and I update the icons and descriptions, it goes back to the wrong defaults when I reboot the computer. I know it is not a huge issue, but I would like to know more information so that I can fix this problem. Thanks for the help thus far!

| | Well, here are some suggestions that I have tried so far... http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/59453/ and http://www.honda-tech.com/zeropost?cmd=tshow&id=1662794 I also tried using a program called "Icon Packager - Public Version". This program allowed me to set the icons to their default settings, and then I could cutomize them as I wanted. The labels were still incorrect, but I was able to change them in the registry. Everything looked fine, but once I rebooted the computer, everything went right back to incorrect settings. What can I do? Please help!
