| Even when the computer is idle the harddrive light remains on. Done all kinds of scans and found no junk.
OS: Windows XP Pro
Intel Pentium, 133Mhz
64MB
S3 VIRGE PCI(325) (2MB)
CD: Sony cd-rom CDU77E (4x cd-rom)

| Remains on or flashes about once a second?
If it remains on, are you sure nothing is running in the background? Have you looked at the Processes tab in Task Manager to see if anything is using the CPU?

| It doesnt flash at all, it remains lit up. I have not installed anything new. Suddenly on startup it just stays on. Everything seems normal.
I haven't changed any of the services so everythings in its default settings.
No there is no automatic updates and I haven't installed any Service Packs.

| since when has this happened? since you installed the drive?
and what hard drive light? like there are some controller cards that the light is useless.
is this something that has recentally changed?

It happened a couple of days ago. I just started it up one day and the light remained on.
Before the light would only be on when the harddrive was in use when opening a program or downloading or moving files around. Now it remains on forever without even so much as blinking.
For the past 3 days I haven't connected to the internet. So It can't be something from that. Everything seems to be working normally but the light has never been on all the time.
