Doc Imani AKA Reapa here. Guess you could say I've been the amateur brain surgeon when it comes to computers. Started with the original apples and was always fascinated with software. Got into programming and hardware later as a result of my educational pursuits back when tech services amounted to some guy saying, "I don't know what do you think?" and then I bought a dell and a gateway where customer service means you don't hold on quite as long before you're told they can't help..so I've always been giving advice and have been a part of a number of support online chats and boards over the years. Right now I'm knee deep in Microsoft betas and working with my own software creations designed to modify Win98 with some open source ideas and so dialoguing with others and their problems keeps me current. I am seriously interested in helping people avoiding having to go through what I went through to solve relative minor problems (looking back), My expertise is really the registry and the internals for 98/XP, multimedia, and hip-hop since I'm really into all of those with my private company (after I get back from the university gig). I'm what Microsoft created when they turned paying enterprise and home customers into impromptu and unsolicited R and D people..and I will never forgive.. I'm this month's Firefox promotional video winner..here me roar! I still think Microsoft makes great Os'es..it's just when they try to get the OS to be your toaster oven and do stacks of things that it ain't really supposed to being doing that the trouble starts. Most problems start right at that juncture. Anyway, that be my spiel...brother from the hood atl (dirty, dirty), rapper, poet, prof, minister, computer geek..pretty typical..

Yeah, nothing to special about you Dr. Imani, LOL. Seriously though, I am impressed with the knowledge & writing skills that you have shown here in these forms & all that you've accomplished in your life.

I come to these forums 2 or 3 times a day to see what new things I can learn. My goal is to be able to fix my computer other than formatting everytime.

LOL i think i should put a capital G infront so it doesn't look like a q. Well its pronounced goo-jew-soul-juh, im gujarati (indian) and i've had that nick since grade 6 so i stuck to it. I'm 19 years old and doing my undergrad at York University in Administative Studies with an honours in finance. When i comes to computers i'm the type that learns by trial and error, if i screw up then i'm definitly not gonna make tht mistake twice.

I know enough to help the beginners out, and sometimes even more to elaborate on the moderators posts. I don't spend that much time outside the support forum but i'm glad i did this time. Never had a post requesting something from me personally

19!? got dang! I have to be the oldest goat here.

I usually learn from mistakes too, but it I have to make the same mistake 4 or 5 times. except the lesson about staying out of the BIOS. learned that lesson real quick.

Thank you Gujusouljah.

HaHa yea people usually do have that reaction to my age vs. knowledge. That fact is since i come from a HUGE family (i'm already an uncle to 12 kids, which are my cousins kids) I get a lot of practice fixing computers because i'm the only one that knows how . Which makes me feel special but does get frustrating.

That's crazy.  Are you the youngest in your family?

Nope, my sister who is 17 is the youngest in the family not to mention the shortest at 5' 0" while I'm the tallest at 6' 3". My oldest blood cousin is 38 turning 39 next week. I add blood since being Indian anyone with your last name that has close family ties and that you've know since forever is basically considered cousin, uncle or aunt.
