| I installed it now ONLY because I am planning to reformat anyway and thought it would make a good trial run. It does not nothing for me because I already had a good router firewall, use Sygate, have AVG that I keep current, have the recommended anti-spy applications that I keep current, use Firefox browser except for sites that require IE, have MS problems like ActiveX disabled and the standard MS Internet security setting on High. All SP2 does for me is annoy me with "security popup warnings" that are of no benefit and slow internet access.
If I can avoid re-installing SP2 after I re-format, I will opt not to install it because I don't think I need it. But it does me no harm.

| I actually love it, I've installed it on over 15 pcs so far without a hitch and I think the new security features are awesome for the noobies. It makes sure they keep up to date with everything and really improves security, stability and speed.

I'm a bit confused. If you're using Firefox most of the time, then the "security popup warnings" of Internet Explorer shouldn't annoy you so mich, no?
If you're talking about the warnings from the Security Center...
Control Panel > Security Center > Change the way Security Center alerts me

Well... I can't tell you what you should think... but SP2 offers a bit more aside from enhanced security:
- faster startup and response time than with all the patches installed separately (with the slipstreamed install and the prefetching on boot disabled, I don't even get half a "roll" of the blue/green blocks at startup)
- increased system stability (up to par with or better than Windows 2000 Service Pack 4)

| Forget SP2, it's from Microsoft so I don't trust it. Just like I don't trust Internet Explorer or the ICF. (Or my Operating System for the matter.)
The Xbox is the only thing from Microsoft that I own that I don't want to get rid of. |
