Hi Guys

Im preparing for my first 2003 exam and have question regard ing the above, can anyone tell me if the following is true before submit this memory and get a question wrong...............

Backing up SUS:

First you need to make a backup of the meatabase, using IIS backup option.

SUS admin page, IIS web page and auto update are stored in C:\intepub\www.root.  This can be done using NTBackup

Also content needs backing up??  IIS or nTbackup????? If so at which point????

To be able to restore the SUS server to its previous state you must back it up using IIS manager to backup the IIS metabase.  Then you should use the Backup Utilty to backup the latest metabase file, the folder where SUS Administration Web page files are located and the folder where SUS content files are located.

To restore a SUS server to its previous state you should:

  1. Install Win 2003
  2. Install IIS
  3. Run Windows Updates
  4. Install SUS to the same folder as before
  5. Use Backup Utility to restore SUS configuration from the latest SUS backup
  6. Then open the IIS MMC and restore the IIS metabase from the metabase backup file that you restored by using the Backup Utility
  7. Finally verify SUS settings by opening the SUS administration web page.

Thanks to anybody who can help

Backup the IIS metabase with IIS manager.  Backup the SUS folder with your backup utility.
