| OK here we go! A good friend of mine has a very basic cpu (80 mb ram, Do not know the processor speed!). He is running windows 98 but is struggling with the overall speed of his cpu. What i am looking for is some basic hacks to speed up his computer. Although my friend thinks i am a genius, i am at a loss as to speed up his cpu ( I am running xp). Please help me help him! Thank-you in advance

| There are a TON of tweaks for Windows 98, too many to list. I would suggest start by using X-Setup Pro then take a look at Axcel216's Max Speeed.
Also add more RAM, use AVG antivirus and scan for spyware with Ad-aware and SpyBot.

| If the motherboard supports it, you should increase the RAM to between 192 - 256 MB. The amount of RAM currently installed is going to keep that computer running like a turtle. If you don't know what the processor speed is, what is the brand name, model name, and model number of that computer? |
