| | Okay the computer i baught has sp2, i have windows 2000 professional on a disc and im trying to install windows 2000 professional but when i do i get a error saying that i have a newer version and also says setup functionailty will be disabled from the disc, any ideas or suggest would be nice, thanks. |

| What it's saying in the message is that you have WinXP with Sp2/Service Pack 2 running and you put in a CD from an older version of Windows [Win2000]. That's a perfectly normal message, usually happens when also viewing a Win95, Win98 or WinME CD in a WinXP or Win2000 computer.
Or in other words, you can't install an older version of Windows from within the newer version.
Also, the SP2 is not the Operating System itself but a modified/updated version of the original Windows XP/ replaces the original version on the newest computers.
What is your intent? Are you meaning you want to dual-boot WinXP and Win2000? Or do you want to replace WinXP with Win2000?

| Boot to the win2k cd and format the existing win xp partition.
