Downloaded the ISO and burned it to a dvd. Won't fit a cd. Found out after the fifth try that it installs best when setup is launched from 64bit Windows XP. There are drivers available but because of the LDDM feature they must be specific to Longhorn/Vista. Don't think your machine's locked up during install. You'll see a light blue screen with a moving green line as it installs. I had shaved just before beginning the installed and had five o'clock shadow when it was finished. Still playing but did manage to get the ethernet and sound to work.

Since I started this thread I've had the pleasure of three more clean installs of build 5112. I must stick with my original opinion. Starting XP 64bit and running the Vista set up from explorer gives the most reliable setup since many 64 bit chipset features are already operating, at least until the first reboot when Vista searches for them and installs it's own. I finally had an install run long enough for the activation popup to show it's face. Just one click. No questions or options. I am suspicious of that because I have no idea exactly what info was sent about me and/or my machine. Perhaps they'll change it later. And it is still beta 1.
I got my Canon BJC8200 printer working by blind luck. I accidently clicked the BJC 7100 driver and it installed and has worked perfectly. I'm not going to ask why - it works and I'm able to print.

Hey! i would like to do everything you said but I would like to upgrade from XP. The windows Vista I have can only clean install and last time i ran a dual boot my computer crashed. Right now i am running windows XP so if you have a link to where i could just upgrade to Vista that would be great. And if you would post the link so i can download Vista that would be even better. Thanks alot.

The upgrade option will not be available until the release candidates. Once the option is finally there, the upgrade is not going to be a traditional windows upgrade. It is going to be a clean install wiping out the old windows but with a fancy file and settings transfer going on in the background.
