For a while Vista has been using the Glass style, which I like. Then one day, I discovered it decided to default to the Metal style (which I don't like as much as Glass) I can fix the problem by restarting the DWM using TweakVista, but I don't want to have to do that every time. Is there a registry value or something I could change?

Edit: OMFG, please tell me it didn't just censor out that word from Glass... fixed now

Well, I've figured out the problem... DWM stopped starting on bootup... so is there any way to re-enable it? I tried using this command in the Run section of the registry:

rundll32.exe udwm.dll DwmClientStartup

but that didn't do anything.

Why did this get moved to the tweaking forum? This is not a tweak, this is a support question. The DWM is no longer starting when I boot up my computer, and I want to know how to fix that. Is that really a tweak?

Maybe because the glass effects are turned off by default in 5112, turning them on is considered a tweak.  How are you liking "Vista" so far?  Unfortunately the pc I installed this on has a SIS video card that doesn't support the glass effects. Found some minor glitches over the past week or so, especially accessing network drives and I have to kill uxss.exe process sometimes when the system slows down.

Hmm, I guess you're right, I viewed it as a support question because it was using the DWM until recently, and I don't know why it suddenly stopped.

Well Vista certainly looks prettier, but it's obviously not ready for public release yet. One example: I tried to save a file in MagicISO and I got a "Cannot open AVI" error. Same thing happens when I try to update Spybot. And McAfee Internet Suite 2004 messed up Windows to the point where I had to reinstall it. Other than that it works pretty good, other than some random restarts. The only drivers I had to manually get are ATI's Vista drivers (the LDDM ones) and my sound card drivers.

If anyone cares, I found the problem. Quicktime got installed along with Riven, which added QTTask.exe to the startup procedures in the registry. This was causing the DWM to not work correctly. So I used Startup Control Panel to get rid of that task.
