| For those of you keeping tuned for M$ answers, I got my final answer today and here it is: "I have forwarded your request for the same issue and whenever there is any hotfix available we will let you know, or u can forward your request to mswish@microsoft.com.and we have already refunded your incidence for the same, i am going to close this case as not resolved and i will definitely inform u if there is any workaround available." If he is true to his email, at least it is closed as NOT RESOLVED. I still miss the ability to install these items but I feel a bit better...... Guess I am just a stickler for getting what I paid for...... Thanks for tuning in and checking back from time to time..... |

| Here's my little theory. I think that the one and only solution to this problem that will EVER be furnished or otherwise offered up from Microsoft is in the form of notification that the next version of Office (presumably 2005 or 2006) is now for sale, of which we will all be cordially invited to purchase (at some expense, mind you) the solution to the problem that they created. Call me bitter. |

| I received the same information as you by phone from a MS tech...they are working on the issue and I will be notified if and when a patch/fix is available...blah...blah...blah. I won't hold my breath! .

| This has happened many times before with microsoft. usially the fix involves modifying the registry to bypass the security they have added. I tryed a few things but no luck. Easy work around until the bone heads come up with a fix: Use Outlook Express! Just set it up using the same settings you have in regular outlook. Make sure you don't make express your default mail client. It will ask you if you want to import your folders - don't. If you are using this at work and they are using Exchange just select IMAP (hopefully your echange admin allows that). The only other catch here is that your outbound mail (SMTP) will require a relay. If you don't know what that is you're out of luck. Also you may still have another delema, some admins will block this in exchange. Now you are asking how do I add sound in express. Easy, click create new mail, make sure you are in the body of the message and go to menu, format, backround and then click sound. the rest is self explanitory. Good luck |

| | That doesn't help the MS Word users though. |
