| Hi, I have a problem on my older notebook. It has Win 98 and every time I turn it on it says that the file ndiswan.vxd (according to config.sys) is missing and to press any key. There is no ndiswan.vxd line in my config. Then the computer workes normally. Any idea? Thanks

| VXD files are not loaded by config.sys. These are protected mode drivers and are loaded in the registry. You most likely have lost the pointer to this file in your registry.

| Look in your system.ini file and see if it's listed there. If it is, put a semicolon in front of it, save the file & reboot.

| If you are on dial-up, download and install the Dial-Up Networking 1.4 upgrade for Win98 Second Edition or Win98 (original). Pick the one for your operating system.
If that doesn't fix it, uninstall the Novell Client from the network configuration.

| Sorry, you'r right, during boot up it says the file listed in the system.ini. But it is not there, I'm pretty sure! And I don't have any Novell Client... HEEELP!

| Span, post a HT log please and we will see if it is there. go to http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ and download 'Hijack This!'. Unzip, double-click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button. Press that, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet. Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
Cheers
