| Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10 (v10.0.0.359) is my favourite and it now has excellent anti-spyware functionality. Also, a lot lighter than Norton AntiVirus. After using Norton AntiVirus for years, I finally gave up on it after upgrading to Norton AntiVirus 2005. It is far too heavy and fragile. Norton AntiVirus 2005 is getting to the point of the prevention being almost as bad as what it is trying to prevent. I didn't realise just how much it was slowing my system until I removed it. My PC performance improved considerably. AntiVir is another awesome free antivirus.

| | I used AVG for several months, until an update a few weeks ago appeared to have been hacked & infected with something AVG would not detect. I immediately uninstalled AVG & purchased NOD32 for my desktop running WinXP Pro, which has done a great job so far. I also have a laptop running Win98 that I kept protected(?) with AVG. It began acting strangely - I had to reload the BIOS just to get it going a couple of times. Once it booted, it would go crazy - beeping, opening up windows by itself, and clicking on anything would cause something else to open! I struggled through this chaos and finally was able to uninstall AVG. Now the laptop is running normally. My available RAM is now almost twice what it was before getting rid of this mess. I'm surprised that there is little mention of this in any forums. It is too much of a coincidence that this went away after deleting AVG! TBoyd CORRECTION - I retract the above statement about AVG. I installed NOD32 & the laptop started going crazy with the same symptoms. Does anyone have any ideas? I've never seen anything like this before! TBoyd

| Kaspersky
Nothing else even comes close, I guarantee if you try it you will buy it. It's detect rate is unsurpassed and they have hourly updates..... that's right hourly. Kaspersky Labs technicians work around the clock to protect your computer.

| | Aren't they all much of a muchness? I would have thought all antivirus comapnies try to keep their software up to date and stay one step ahead of the virus writers. Don't they all detect the same viruses? I've been using Zonelabs Security Suite and never had any problems with viruses or hijaks. Easy to use, non-intrusive and doesn't slow my PC down. |
