You've probably tried this but I just press the PrintScrn key, open Paint and click Edit, Paste. I can Select and Cut a desired portion then open a New file and Paste then Save.

i know on some systems there is usually a button to press for instant screen shots whether it be jpeg. or some other file formats. now for pc with no such (button) does any one know how to create screen shots on just normal regular systems. because there are a few items i would like to shot off of my desktops and in me system properties, but i cant create screen shots
