change the blue xp mce color

for many times i try to change the blue color which is in xp mce all the time

on every page blue blue blue

is it possible to change it in black or grey

i don't think so but maybe someone can help me

Slow Right click menu!

I have Windows MCE with SP3 and latest updates installed. Recently, when I right click for the first time (say, in my computer, my docs, my pics, desktop, on an icon, etc.) to bring up the menu, theres anywhere from a 5 second to 5 minute pause. It only happens the first time. I have Norton 360 installed and up to date as well as Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, Spyware Guard, and Ad-Aware. I have cleaned out all temporary files using CCleaner (aka Crap Cleaner). I have also had CPU usage spikes when doing hardly anything (having Firefox 3 and Microsoft Outllook 2007 open). Anyone have any suggestions?

Data Execution Prevention Error

I purchased an HP pavillion M9047C two months ago (Windows Vista Home Premium), but very recently began experiencing trouble with Windows Media Center. First of all, when Vista first loads up I get the following message:

[center]"Windows Media Center Receiver Service stopped working and was closed
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly, Windows will notify you if a solution is available."[/center]

It then offers a solution by means of turning off Data Execution Prevention for Media Center, but of course when I try to do this it doesn't allow me:
"This program must run with data execution protection (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program."

Finally, when I open up Media Center and try to watch live TV, I get a "Tuner Not Installed" error. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, I would be very grateful.

Can't boot windows & help copying files

Hi all...

I have two separate issues here, one (I guess) was cause by the other. The post is rather detailed, so sorry for the long post!

Issue #1:
My gf's computerr crashed due to some virus so I decided to re-install Windows. It is a Gateway laptop so I used the Recovery CD. It had an option to backup the hard drive and put everything in a "My Backup" folder on the C: drive once Windows was installed. So I did this, and there indeed was a folder called "My Backup" with a date and time on the C: drive. However, some (not all) of the files/folders are inaccessible. In particular some random folders in "My Documents" are giving me access denied messages. Also the "Application Data" folder is giving me the same issue. So I first logged in as Admin under Safe Mode and tried to change the access rights. It did not even let me change admin rights as an administrator! So I took out the HD and used an adapter to hook it up to the IDE channel on my desktop with Win XP MCE. I first tried to just copy the folder onto my hard drive, but got access rights error. So I rebooted to Safe Mode, and logged in as Admin and had the same problem as before on the laptop. I even tried copying files in the Recovery Console, but got access denied. I tried copying in a DOS environment that supported NTSF file system, same error. So I installed Norton Ghost 2003 to create a disk image and copy to another spare hard drive I had lying around. Ghost rebooted the computer and created a partition on the C: drive to boot from to get to some virtual environment or "PC Dos 7.1" to perform the copying. On the first attempt the operation failed and it said it would boot Windows. Nothing happened. So I restarted many times. I could neither boot to windows, nor perform any Ghost operations.

Issue #2:
Now I can't boot into Windows on my desktop! I booted a DOS environment and the files are physically there on my C: drive, but I can't get it to boot Windows. So I ran Recovery Console and executed "fixmbr" and "fixboot c:", restarted and nothing changed. I did a repair install of Windows, restarted, nothing changed. I ran "fixmbr" and "fixboot c:" again, restarted, no change. I then ran those two and "bootcfg /default". The bootcfg command recognized the Windows OS on my system, and assigned default to the XP MCE OS located on the C: drive. Now when I restart it says "Invalid System disk...." The OS is there, but I can't seem to boot from it.

At that point it was 1AM and I had to go to sleep. I'm completely stumped and frustrated as tech support for both Gateway and Norton gave me the shaft hard! I thank you guys for your help.

Sound missing

When I install WMP 10 or 11 in WinXP Pro, SP2 the application runs ok except that no sound is produced when I run a file that should play sound. The reason is that these WMP installations fail to load the audio codecs. Is there a way that I can find the appropriate audio codecs and install them independently of WMP?

Messed up Services

Hi. I kind of messed up two things on my computer while messing with the Services.

The first thing (also more important) is that my computer won't shut down or restart correctly. Instead, it will show the BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death) with an error full of 0x00000b 0x00000 and stuff like that.

The second error is that my computer visual styles I was using (through TuneUp Utilities) won't work anymore. The start menu, for example, is just a plain gray instead of a kind of 3D aqua thing.

The problem about changing the stuff back is that I don't know if it was Automatic or Disabled.

I'm not sure if the problem with shut down/restart is the service or the startup programs because I kept changing both the Services (at msconfig) and the startup (also at msconfig) and I got it to work again, but now its not working anymore.

Windows Xp MCE HELP

I have updated my computer to Windows Xp MCE 2005 and When I try to watch a movie in media center, I can hear it but it doesn't show anything or any pictures, it sticks on the trying to load it. It also hangs during trying to read the DVD.
I have Decoders and it shows it is compatible.

Can't Delete Windows Messenger

Alright, my friend is having issues deleting Windows Messenger because it automatically signs her on when she restarts her computer, so I told her to do Remote Assistance and oddly enough Windows Messenger isn't even in the startup list for programs that start when logging on. The real problem is that she can't delete windows messenger's folder directly even though she IS an administrator. X_x Help?

At first I thought it was the ms32dll.vbs hack but I found no trace of it whatsoever. I just formatted and installed a fresh copy of Windows Media Center 2005 and SP2 (all offline). Jumped online and instantly grabbed every single Windows update so I don't think my PC has already been hacked, I think this is a default problem with Media Center. Does anyone know a fix to this small but very annoying problem?

Using two media center remotes in same room

I have an Asus hybrid analog/digital tuner...Mce has tuned in all digital channels,but there is no option for any analog channels?

I would really like the analog option,so that I can feed it Sky through the rf cable.

How can this be fixed...?

A hookup question

I have an hp media center pc 7630n that i have on a wireless g network and have dish network satelite. I was thinking of Ripping all of my dvd movies to a couple of big hard drives so I could access them through media center. It would be nice to not have to get up to pick a movie and just scroll through the menu and pick.:D Can this be done? Not really sure how to do it bit figured i would ask before I even try figure it out if it is even possible. Thanks!

Installing accessory programs on media center desktop

So, I want to do a clean install of windows media center on to my desktop. But I want to maximize speed and disk space. I have a couple programs already installed on my 2nd drive that is over 100gb. My main C drive is only 60gb. I want to do a install of windows that will allow me to not have to always reinstall my accessory programs, like; musicmatch, nero, itunes, photoshop and various other programs like those, each time a want to reinstall windows to clean up the computer on occasion. I have a tv tuner card that I am using on my computer now, but I don't like all that the software that comes with it, does. So I am going to install media center. I have 768mgb of ram. And all that I have running sucks up a over half that It didn't really have a problem until now. I have never really done a reinstall of windows since I got this desktop 3 years ago.
Will installing those accessory programs work normally after each time I do a system reinstall like that, say once every 4 to 6 months? Or am I looking at more headache than it is worth.

problems with windows xp shutting down!

I Have windows xp media centre edition version 2002, service pack 2!

When I click "shut down" or "restart" it takes longer that what is used to. It can take up to 20 seconds. Before it would only take a few seconds!

what is going on? Any help would be welcome.
