You could hide the whole notification area, downside is all icons will be hidden, that's the other alternative..., Also, the clock will not be shown either..'

To do that you'd have to Go to 'Start' then 'Run' then type in 'gpedit.msc' then go to 'User Configuration' and then go to 'Administrative Templates' then go to 'Start Menu and Taskbar' then find 'Hide the notification area' then Right-Click, then select Properties and then select 'Enabled' and then select 'OK' then....RESTART

Hopefully this satisfies your request...

I don't know how to hide individual icons other than the way you said before....

If this doesn't appease you, I suggest forbidding your friends using your PC, hah

One thing I'd do is set them up with their own account/logon in Control Panel, User Accounts then limit them in what they can do. May have to uninstall those programs while logged in as one of them but it may affect your logon and have to install again limiting it to yourself when prompted. Give yourself and them passwords so they can't access your logon.

Hi,
I have a PC which is also used by some of my friends.The problem is that I use some programs that are for my personal use and I don't want anyone to see them or tinker with them. But when Windows starts they show up in the taskbar.I want them to not show up in the taskbar but run in the background.Please suggest me how can I hide the [b] particular[/b] icons from the taskbar without shutting them off.I don't want to hide them using the option Taskbar>Properties>Customize>Always hide, because it is too easy to see them by by clicking the Show hidden icons button.I want to use a more secure and fullproof technique like by hacking the registry.Please help!
