thanks for the link. At the moment i have no internet at home so i have to go to a coffee shop near my house. It try that tweak and let you know if it worked as soon as get the Infernet back on. Thanks again.

In my registry all three of those entries are present. However, I'm using a third party visual style, logon screen, and boot screen. The background key is of a string value. It's value in my registry is [0 0 0] (without the []'s). Alas, I've no idea how to associate the value to the color you want. I'm sorry I couldn't be of more help, I just happened across this registry tweak and remembered this thread. Now that I look at it more closely, I believe that the tweak is somewhat misnamed, and that the "background" that is referred to is really the screen background and not the color of the box.

That's all I've found on that link you've posted. I don't know what that [b]-[/b] means after "Background"=
It's 'none'? I've checked the registry on my windows xp and there's no key named Background at the specified location. Should I create it? What type should it be? String value/DWORD value? And what data value should I add to it? Thanks anyway.

They way I understand the title of this registry tweak, it will allow you to change the background of the dialog box. Here's the link:

Because i dont wanna d/l a program just to do that one thing. Besides, i dont wanna tweak the welcome screen, i've said it three times now, i wanna tweak the DIALOG BOX ON THE LOGIN SCREEN, not the welcome screen.....

:pinch: Nobody gets what im saying... i dont want to edit the whole login screen, i've already done that. And i'm not talking about the welcome screen either.

When you turn off the welcome screen windows promts you to a screen with a blue background and a grey dialog box with a blue header. This box is what i want to tweak, i want to either, change the color of the box to transparent or use w/e picture i want or something. now my question is, can this be done and does any one know how?

Windows is set to use the [windows xp-layout] [Standard (blue)] for the logon screen and the only way to change it is to edit it in the registry :P

GUIDE:

1. Press the start button and click on run in the run box you need to type regedit

2. In the registryeditor you need to find 2 strings DllName and ColorName which is located under
[HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ThemeManager]

after you found the strings you have to edit them to the color scheme you want to use:

DllName: The first is DllName you need to change the patch in it to an *.msstyles file most likely it will be located under %systemdrive%\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\*THEME-NAME*\*THEME-NAME*.msstyles

ColorName: If a theme got more than one color scheme you need to change this to the name of the scheme you can find the names in your themes folder in shell there will be a folder named NormalColor thats the name for the standard ColorScheme and all the other folders is the names on the remaining schemes.

Example if you just want to change it the windows standard metallic scheme you only need to change the ColorName to Metallic ;)

what do you mean by that? i already changed the wallpaper, instead of the blue background i used a picture, what i'm talking about tho, is the dialog box where you enter your name and password to log into your account, is there any way to change the color of the box itself or at least set to transparent ?

Does anybody know how to (if it's possible) change the color of the dialog box where you enter your user name and password in the logon screen (not the welcome screen)? i have changed the background/wallpaper and i was wondering if it was possible to set the color of the dialog box to tranparent or if there was a way to hide it or something.
