i would be very interested in knowing if this works.

my graphics card is :

Intel(R) 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM)

i do not think that it is supported. it is the card that came with my HP laptop.

Hi in regards to your question i found this info below.

To turn on this effect just execute c:\Windows\System32\UXSS.exe or enable and start the User Experience Session Management Service.

1. Open up Regedit.
2. Navigate through HKEY_local_machine, Software, and Microsoft.
3. Create a new KEY called DWM.
4. In the new DWM key you created, create a DWORD called EnableMachineCheck.
5. Make sure this value is set to 0 and hardware checking is now disabled.

Quick Note: Although you can get it to run on older hardware, with the lack of WDDM drivers available, it is going to run very slowly.

i have not tried so i dont know if it works. i found on this forum a program called tweak vista 085 which also enables aero on unsupported cards. hope this helps you

I wanted to try it out like you could do in the TweakVista utility. I tried the utility but I guess it doesn't work with build 5384. I have the drivers installed for my graphics card.

The only way to "try it out" would be to buy a supported graphics card. When I say unsupported, I mean simply that. The graphics card simply won't understand what Vista is telling it what to do. An unsupported device doesn't have the hardware requirements to process the information that the operating system or program is telling it what to do.

I realize that, but still if there is any way to enable Aero in 5384 I would at least like to try it out if I could.

By what I understand about the hardware requirements for Windows Vista, an unsupported graphics card won't support the Aero function of Vista.

Click on the manufacturer of your video card to see if it is listed. If not, then chances are that it won't support WDDM. (Windows Vista Display Driver Model)
