Try Vista 5472 a gr8 performance improvement..
Memory usage is far less than Beta 2(almost half)
I just have 26 processes running after boot( as I dont use internet)

But even with internet 46 processes is quite lot

I've been running Beta 2 since it's release, and i've gradually managed to put it on a diet.
I have no loss of anything, and it's perfectly usable.

Tweaking Windows Vista Beta 2

I just installed the new public beta, and walked through the Vista Beta 1 Service Guide. A few things don't seem to work though. For instance, right-clicking the desktop and chosing Personalise will do nothing, and Control Panel will open, but it is hollow, and then closes again. Restarting with Last Known Good Configuration doesn't help.

I did notice a LOT of improvement, the first startup after installation explorer.exe was using 100% CPU power, and the system used 820MB of ram. Now explorer uses 0-5% CPU and a total of +/- 500MB Ram.

Does anyone else have any experience with Vista Beta 2?
