If all else fails try this:
[b]First backup the registry by doing the following.[/b]
Click on Start>Run,copy and paste the following bold text into the 'Open:' space,then press Ok.
[b]regedit /e c:\registrybackup.reg[/b]
It won't appear to be doing anything,that's normal.
Your mouse pointer may have an hour glass along side it for a minute or so.
Please be patient and continue when the hour glass disappears.

Download on another pc,then/unzip/install [b]XP TCPIP Repair[/b] [Attached below] onto the pc with issues.
Start the program,click on the '[b]Reset TCP/IP[/b]' button,follow any prompts.
Click on the '[b]Repair Winsock[/b]' button,again follow any prompts.
[b]Restart your pc when you've finished.[/b]

Click on Start/Run,type [b]CMD[/b] then press [b]OK[/b]
The black Command Prompt [CMD.exe] window will launch.

Then copy this-> [b]NETSH WINSOCK RESET[/b]
Then right click 'Paste' it onto the command prompt [flashing cursor],then press Enter.

Then copy this-> [b]NETSH FIREWALL RESET[/b]
Then right click 'Paste' it onto the command prompt [flashing cursor],then press Enter.

Then copy this-> [b]NETSH WINSOCK RESET CATALOG[/b]
Then right click 'Paste' it onto the command prompt [flashing cursor],then press Enter.

Type [b]EXIT[/b] then press Enter again.
[b]Restart your pc.[/b]

Now try connecting to the internet.

thank you very much guys for your help and i highly apreciated it. but where can i copy from that netch winsock reset, netsh fire wall reset and netsh winsock reset catalog?

Click Start/Control Panel/Network Connections.
Then right click on your default connection,usually 'Local Area Connection' or 'Dial-up Connection' if you are using Dial-up,then left click on 'Properties'.
Double-click on the 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' item and select the radio button that says: 'Obtain DNS servers Automatically'.
Click OK twice,restart your computer.
If still no joy,right click on your default connection,usually 'Local Area Connection' or 'Dial-up Connection' if you are using Dial-up,then left click on 'Repair'.
Follow the prompts,exit Control Panel,restart your computer.

Click on Start/Run,type [b]CMD[/b] then press Ok.
At the command prompt copy and paste [b]NETSH WINSOCK RESET[/b] then press Enter.
At the command prompt copy and paste [b]NETSH FIREWALL RESET[/b] then press Enter.
At the command prompt copy and paste [b]NETSH WINSOCK RESET CATALOG[/b] then press Enter.
Type [b]EXIT[/b] press Enter again.
Now try connecting to the internet.

Double-click Tcpip_Fix.exe to create a new folder on your desktop,Tcpip_Fix.
Open the new folder and double-click Tcpip_fix.cmd to replace tcpip.sys file with a new copy.
[b]Restart your computer. [/b]

hi guys, can you help with my problem,

here is a brief history whats happens in pc, i have scan my computer using zone alarm security suite, a 60 day trial version and it founds a virus and automatically cleaned that viruses but after cleaning it, i cannot connect it to the internet anymore, i also install morzilla webb browser and still i cant connect it to the internet, i already checked my internet settings but its seems that all are ok. can you please help me in my problem? i am using windows xp service pack 2. thank you
