Good morning....Well I did the register change, ok. Then I downloaded hijack this and it loaded ok. I went to run it and it goes about 90% and stops. I try to click any of the buttons on the HJ this screen and get a message "This action cannot be completed because the other application is busy. Choose "Switch To" to activate the busy application and correct the problem". Then to shut down hj this I do a "control, alt, delete' and close it via task manager. I also tried to load ad aware and it won't load, nor will spybot. Any ideas, please? TY

Happy day...I tried it again and after a bunch of time it went through and finished the scan. I will post it in HJ this log posts as you requested.

Click on Start/Run,type [b]CMD[/b] then press OK
At the prompt type [b]msiexec /unregister[/b] and press Enter.
At the prompt type [b]msiexec /regserver[/b] and press Enter.
Type [b]EXIT[/b]

If you have Hijackthis already installed,post a log into the Hijackthis Logs forum.
If not,download [b][url=http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe][color="red"]Trend Micro HijackThis 2.0.2[/color][/url][/b] to your desktop:
Double click on HJTInstall.exe,it will prompt you to extract hijackthis.exe to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
When the install is complete,HijackThis will automatically launch.
When the license agreement appears,select "I Accept" and then click on the "Do a system scan only" button.
When the scan is complete,click on the "Save Log" button,then save it to your desktop.
Copy and paste the entire contents of that log into a new topic in the [b][url=http://forum.tweaks.com/forum/Forum29-1.aspx]HijackThis Logs forum[/url][/b],[b][color="red"] not here.[/color][/b]

ok, ty I did that and am able to move round now....I tried to load ad aware and spybot but neither would load . I get message "administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"...how do I go about loading these? or resetting the admin settings? thanks

What happens if you try booting into "[b]Safe Mode with Networking[/b]".
Reboot your computer into [b][url=http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml][color="RED"]SAFE MODE[/color][/url][/b] using the [b]F8[/b] method.
To do this,restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "[b]Safe Mode with Networking[/b]".

I have an HP pavilian 7965, with windows xp that takes about 1/2 hour to start up, then it doesn't or won't open any programs to run. I get a bunch of messages while it goes through the motions of starting up. One message is "DDL C:|WINDOWS|system32\wowfx.dll is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." I tried to use a memory stick to put some spyware removal programs on it but that doesn't go either. I tried to open the c drive but I get "not responding" message. How does one approch this issue to cure its ills? Thank you for helping in which ever way you can.
