In Windows Mobile you can't edit the termserv connection details so I can't store a password there. We also have other machines that connect to termserv with their own credencials, so I can't set termserv to always use a predifened user account.
I've tried a number of google searches and so far I've come up blank. Anyone have any ideas on how to make this work?

Edit: I just figured out one way to make it work. :w00t: I set up another RDP listener on the second NIC and set connections on that NIC to auto-logon. If anyone has a better idea than that I'd still be interested in finding out.

Cannot add default printer

Hello all,

hope that I can get some help on this, as I have needed up with nothing everywhere else. Now I know that this is just a training issue, however you know what people are like with new computers and all that.

We are trying to promote a sharing environment where we don't need to have private directories and everyone works from shared team directories., however in the meantime we want to "reassure" the staff that there data is safe and secure due to the nature of some of the information that.

Does anyone know if you can remove My Documents and just work with mapped network drives? I know we can change the target of my documents but I just wondered if we could go down this avenue.

Or indeed if anyone had any solutions that were better than this?

Also does anyone know how to change so that display settings are no longer locked and can be changed by the user logged in?

Thanks guys

Tom

[help] Map Network Drive as Client real Hard disk

I have a windows 2003 server
and serveral Windows Xp Professional as clients

I had share a drive from windows server 2003
and I wish to use the Client to Map the shared Hard disk drive as my Windows XP drive

how to make the network drive as local hard disk drive?

the picture show basic mapping drive
example

Can group policy in a server forest

Hi All,

We have 3 windows 2003 servers for email, FAp and ISA. These are part of a network of companies that are all linked to one organisation that installed and configured them. They run the forest and their server run windows server 2003 as well.

What i was wondering if that could the server in the company that installed them be applying group polices to our servers to chagne certain behaviours, or settings and/or stop us from modifying settings ourselves.

And another query regarding public folders. As we are all part of the same network, under all public foldrs in outllok 2003 we can see every public folder for all the other organisations.

Is there a way that we can hide all of this and then only show our own public folders. OUr public fodlers are hosted on the companies server, and i have a sneaking suspicion that if we moved them to our own servers, and this might solve the problem?

Can any one help?

Thanks

Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 Release.

Details and download here:
http://forum.tweaks.com/forum/Topic212555-59-1.aspx

Can I delete fdeploy.dll locally to prevent folder redirection??

I have a corporate laptop, and I want to disable the folder redirection for
"Application Data" and "My Documents". Both are redirected to a network
drive, and this drives me nuts. "My Docs" is not really a problem, coz I
could put my data elsewhere on my HD, but "Application Data" redirection is a
major pain in the a**e (I don't know whether it's the way the admins deployed
it or it's just the way it works, but everytime I logon while not connected
to the network I loose all my customized settings of firefox, ms office apps,
and wifi, to name the three that frustrate me most).

So after some googling and getting to know more about GPO etc. than I ever
wanted to know, I still didn't find a clean way of doing this on my laptop.

The "brute" solution I invented myself would be to manually set the folder redirection to its default settings in the registry and then to delete fdeploy.dll to prevent
GPO to change it again, but I have some questions re this method:
- would this effectively stop the startup script changing it again?
- can admins figure out that the redirection doesn't work on my laptop?
- can they then change it again and copy fdeploy.dll again on my machine?
- how can I prevent this? (e.g. a script that runs at startup before the GPO
scripts and that deletes fdeploy.dll each time?)

Or is there a better way to accomplish my goal? e.g.
- changing fdeploy.ini or {...}.ini files, but this is apparently a local
cache, that can be overwritten?
- disabling fdeploy.dll / changing settings through the registry?
- ... other suggestions ???

Thanks a lot for your help.
Something's wrong with disk drive

I have a dimension 3100 computer, and I keep trying to upload music, and pictures from CD to my computer but when I insert the CD into the disc drive it starts making intermittantly groaning noises, and does not show anything.

When I try to access the CD's through My Computer, as soon as I double click the icon my computer freezes.

Also, after I put in the CD, when I try to open the disc drive again, it takes a long time making groaning noises.

Please help!

Password problem

I was asked to help a small school where my kids used to go to school. They have a small network that was set up by one of the parents. They are using W2003 server on the main computer. The problem is that the one parent got mad at the school and then moved. He was the only one with the password. Is there any way to get past this?

If there is no way to get past the password thing, I considered reformatting the drive, except I would like to use XP Pro. To simplify the setup imagine DC1 is in Subnet A and there is another Subnet B, currently without a DC.

The first DC is also the Global Catalog (for obvious reasons) and the Primary DNS (not Active Directory-Integrated)

To protect the nework in case the first DC goes down (or in case the link between Subnet A and B goes down) I am planning to promote a Windows 2003 member server in Subnet B as the 2nd Domain Controller. This 2nd DC will also function as a GC and DNS server.

My objective is to set up a 'redundant DC' such that if 1st DC goes down all users should still be able to authenticate without problem using the 2nd DC.

DNS in 1st DC is currently set to Primary but I'm ok to change it to AD-integrated if this is a better setup for my 'redundant DC' requirement. The 3 ways I can think of are below.

I would highly appreciate any input or help that anyone can provide.
