I should have mentioned this earlier, programs like Belarc Advisor and Lavalys Everest Home Edition will tell you what hardware is in your computer.

Belarc Advisor
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Everest
http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=1072

RE: Question Re: Hard Drive Recycling?

Well, I guess it's out of my hands at this point.

RE: Question Re: Hard Drive Recycling?

Hi MoneyAddyct
Could my data possibly be viewed by Dell employees
Yes it could possibly be viewed by Dell employees. I know some here don't like to start panics, but if one are selling their computer or trading in ones hard drive, the hard drive should be zeroed. I personally have recovered data from formated HDD's. The best way to hide your info. is to overwrite the HDD with one's and zero's a couple of times using different patterns.

A utility can be down loaded from most major HDD manufacturers that will do diagnostics on your HDD, and it also includes a function to completely write zero's the HDD.

Question Re: Hard Drive Recycling?

Hey guys. So my hard drive failed the other day, and I called Dell and they had a new one sent out. The old one was taken by the tech presumably to be shipped back to Dell. I was able to back-up my data, but I had some personal data and financial information on my hard drive that I wish I had the time to delete. My question is: What will Dell do with the hard drive? Could my data possibly be viewed by Dell employees? Thanks!
