That did not work. But I'm getting used to this task manager anyways.

Without explorer.exe my computer runs much faster!

Don't think this will work,try it anyway thats if you're able to.
Try creating a new user profile.
1.Log on as the Administrator or as a user with administrator credentials.
2.Launch Task Manager,click on File/New Task (Run...) and type or copy and paste the following bold text below,then press OK
[b]nusrmgr.cpl[/b]
3.Under Pick a task, click Create a new account.
4.Type a name for the user information, and then click Next.
5.Click an account type, and then click Create Account.
Then restart your pc,log into the new profile.

Actually, I have also lost the windows installation disk. The CD-ROM drive sometimes reads the disk and sometimes doesn't. Damn, things can't get any worse. Is there still any solution?

What exactly is wrong with your cd-rom drive,you need that working or replace it with a new drive.

Oh damn, I've disabled System Restore after installing XP itself so that my computer runs faster.
Is there any other way to fix this problem?

If you've not disabled System Restore,try this:
Launch Task Manager,click on File/New Task (Run...) and type or copy and paste the following bold text below,then press OK
[b]C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe[/b]

Thanks for the reply again, RichieUK. But the problem is that my CD-ROM drive does not work anymore. :(

If you have the Microsoft Windows XP installation disk try doing a [b]Repair Install[/b].
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive.
[Boot into the Bios and set your CD-Rom drive as first boot device].
For more information about how to do this,refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer.
Then insert your Microsoft Windows XP Setup CD,and restart your computer.
When the 'Press any key to boot from CD' message is displayed on screen, press a key.
Press ENTER when you see the message to setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the 'Welcome to Setup' screen.
[b]Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console. [/b]
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press [b]R[/b] to repair Windows XP.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

When I go onto safe mode, after entering the administrators password, it says logging in and then all of a sudden the computer restarts. I tried the whole process again and then it again restarted. Now im onto normal windows and the explorer.exe still crashes...

What happens in Safe Mode.
Reboot your computer into [b][url=http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml][color="RED"]SAFE MODE[/color][/url][/b] using the [b]F8[/b] method.
To do this,restart your computer and after hearing your computer beep once during startup (but before the Windows icon appears) press the F8 key repeatedly.
A menu will appear with several options.
Use the arrow keys on your keyboard to navigate and select the option to run Windows in "Safe Mode".

After uninstalling some application, my "explorer.exe" keeps crashing every 30 seconds. I come to know this by looking at it in the task manager and my task bar and desktop disappearing. Now I have to end process "explorer.exe" from the task manager to properly run the computer. I run applications now from the task manager itself. How do I fix my explorer.exe?
