why after formatting xp and i striaght away go to windows update website for update without installing any software except anti-virus before the update.i got viruses then.this happened to me twice.is microsoft website infected with viruses?if that`s the case what`s the purpose of updating then?is microsoft website SAFE!?

chuan,

I don't know where you're getting your viruses, but it isn't the MS WU site that's giving them to you.

When you format your drive and do a clean installation, you should not be connected to the Net. You should install and activate your Anti-virus and your firewall before you go on the Net, and the BEST procedure is to have the critical patches burned to a CD so that you can install those and be fully protected before you connect to the Net.
