| I only have the Beta version of Server 2003 and the patch won't let me update my beta. Is there any way for me to protect myself? Other than buying the full version (no money )

| I don't think so. You might want to order the evaluation copy from MS. Pay just for shipping.

| MS releases software like this.
Beta copies--usually the first and second pre-release for testing purposes.
Release copies (RCs)--The final copies with changes recommended by beta testers.
Final release--self explanatory
Evaluation copies--full working versions to determine if you want to purchase the software. These are date stamped to self destruct. They have 120, 180 or 360 day trial periods.
The licenses agreement for betas and RCs state that this copies must be removed upon release of the final version of the OS.

| Whoops I better get rid of it then
I dloaded it the week before M$ closed the evaluation dload site down. So I thought I had a good 10 months left to use it being a 360 day evaluation. Oh well, it works great I may as well buy it.

| If it is an full evaluation copy then you're OK. If it is a beta or an RC then no.
If you're going to purchase be prepared for sticker shock. Suggest pricing for standard server with 5 client licenses is $999 US. Enterprise is $3999 US with 25 CALs.
