| Somewhere along the way XP seems to have lost the ability to add http:// to the begining of a web address.
If I type www.tweakxp.com into the address box, XP will come up with a page not found error message, I now have to physically put http:// at the begining for the address to be found.
Anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this ?

| I`m not sure,
but there is a function AutoComplete which
works with explorer and internet explorer.
I use mozilla and there is a option:
Smart browsing:
automatic complete in adress bar enable/disable |

| Guess you already checked this registry key
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
@="http://"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"ftp"="ftp://"
"gopher"="gopher://"
"home"="http://"
"mosaic"="http://"
"www"="http://"

| | is it XP (that is, is it the OS itself) or is the problem only with IE6 ? have you tried other browsers ? you may find a reinstall of IE6 helps if IE6 is the only browser affected. |

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\DefaultPrefix]
@="F:\WINDOWS\system32otfound.html?"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\Prefixes]
"www"="F:\WINDOWS\system32otfound.html?"
Cheers
