| I have a NETGEAR FR114P Router with built-in print server. This is my second router as the first one died.
My trouble is that printing through the print server is very slow. It prints a little bit, then pauses, then prints a bit and pauses. And so on...
I have tested the printer by connecting it to my parallel port on the computer and it works fine. I never noticed this slowness on my first router, but I cannot be 100% certain. My printer is a Canon i850.
Could it be a setting in the printer driver that is causing this?

| I'm thinking 'Spooler' settings but I'm not familiar with the properties window of you Printer connection....Failing anyone else's input here, you might want to change your print options for the networked printer to printing 'RAW'. (You can always change it back).

| Thanks, but I tried the spooler settings without noticing any difference. So now I have changed the printer port over to LPR and it seems faster.

| Sorry Protocol, enlighten me -- LPR (Do you mean LPT or parallel port instead)?

| LPR=Line Printer Remote
Its a TCP/IP printing standard originally developed for UNIX.

| Yes, you could consider it as a built-in print server port. If you use LPR, there is no need for third party print port software. It doesn't install by default. You first need to install it off the CD.
Here is a bit of info: http://xerox-techsupport.com/sharedinfo/win_xp/LPRClassicView.htm
So far, it works quite well.
