The other day I flashed my Linksys SR-41 with the latest firmware upgrade mnosteele mentioned below. Everything went fine...until this afternoon. All of a sudden I could not log on to tweakxp.com. I could get to any - and every - other site on the web, but not this one (not the forum, not the main site). I tried everything you can think of and then found I couldn't get here with ANY of my computers (all going through the same router). I thought the site was down until j79 told me it wasn't. So I switched to an older SR-41 router I had lying around and now everything is fine.

Okay, two questions:

First, is it possible to UNflash the router?

Second, any thoughts on why this might be happening?

Thanks.

I had the same thing earlier today, and two days ago as well.  I usually had troubles accessing my Hotmail accounts too, as well as sites on Brinkster.  That's at least how far I checked.  It must be a server somewhere, and I guess in the US because I pinged a couple sites and it would go all the way to NY but then nada.

Well, OK... I mean "nothing"... "nada" is the other side.

Allan, I would think that there is no file verification/comparison in a firmware update (the utility tends to be too small to be that sophisticated) so if you had the older firmware version, the router may not know which one is the more 'current' (not completely sure though!).

As for the second question, maybe Steve has your IP address (Sorry - couldn't resist! LOL!)

Maybe it could be the reason why I was unable to get the latest firmware for Linksys SR-41.  I tried it on www.linksys.com to no avail?

Allan have you tried resetting the router to defaults with the pin in the front? I haven't had any problems with the update.

Mno - Yes, several times (but all that does is reset it, not return it to default firmware). I realize it's probably not something that's going to effect everyone, but that's the only possible cause I can think of. My old router got me back here.

PcRolf - I just tried it and it works fine
